Hallmark to hire 400 at Liberty distribution warehouse

Hallmark Cards Inc. plans to add some 400 employees during the next 12 months at its Liberty distribution center as the company consolidates its warehouse and distribution activities.

Job gains at the Liberty facility - which would employs as many as 1,200 - mean losses at other warehouses. About 570 employees at the company’s distribution center in Enfield, Conn., were told Tuesday that their jobs are being phased out over the next few months. The Enfield center will close by the end of June 2016, according to the Kansas City Star.

Earlier this year, Hallmark laid off around 200 at its Kansas City headquarters.
