Half a Century of Smiles: Parkcrest Dental's 50-Year Journey of Advanced Care and Community Focus

Posted online

Parkcrest Dental began in 1974 when a group of doctors came together and said, “We’re better together.” They shared staff and combined into one team to serve Springfield, Missouri. An architect from California designed the cutting-edge building which is round, making for easier patient flow throughout.
In 2017, they expanded the office, adding 7,000 square feet to total 20,000 square feet. They increased from 27 operatories, to 40 and added a pediatric and orthodontic wing. Parkcrest Dental stayed open during the entire two-year expansion. Recently, Parkcrest Dental refinished the office again.

What’s New?
Parkcrest Dental is celebrating 50 years as a locally owned, non-corporate practice. They are proud to provide a one-stop-shop to serve all needs in the family at once. As the largest dental practice in Southwest Missouri, Parkcrest currently has eight doctors with two being board-certified specialists and 12 hygienists to service the entire family. For example, one child can see a pediatric dentist while an older sibling sees an orthodontist and at the same time, mom can see another dentist or have a service like Botox performed—all in one building at Parkcrest Dental.
Parkcrest Dental offers Botox for dentistry needs such as relaxing the jaw muscle from TMJ. They also offer Botox for the cosmetic side at more affordable rates than most local spas. That’s not all that’s new at Parkcrest Dental. They want patients to have a soothing, spa-like experience despite high dental anxiety. To calm them, they offer patients IV sedation and oral sedation. A general anesthesia doctor can even offer this to kids to ensure a happy visit.

The Investment
Expanding with 13 more operatories including a dedicated orthodontic and pediatric department for Parkcrest was extensive, but worth the investment. They are committed to providing the latest technology and always looking for new ways to make the patient experience better. Parkcrest recently became the only general dental practice in Springfield to offer an X-Guide Implant system to help with a smooth, guided transition process of an implant. They also have a CT x-ray system and offer digital scanners for patients to avoid the unpleasant impression material of the past. All of this helps to make the patient more comfortable and have a better experience and result.

Supporting the Community
Though Parkcrest Dental is large, they are not corporate. The doctors are the owners. They shop, live in and give back to the local community. Not only do the doctors at Parkcrest Dental participate on boards for non-profit charities, but they also provide a paid community day to staff each year to volunteer at a charity, a local school, a church—or any non-profit entity that is near and dear to their heart.
Parkcrest Dental created Denim Day Wednesdays for their office to further give back. Every week, staff raises money for a charity of Parkcrest Dental’s choosing. Staff and doctors alike donate to the monthly cause.
Parkcrest Dental is very involved in the community. They support events revolving around pets, BCFO, the local ballet, Springfield Little Theatre, the Springfield Chamber, local schools and more.
At Parkcrest Dental, they look forward to taking care of the family’s dental needs with a culture and attitude of Glad to do it! To make an appointment, call Parkcrest Dental and they will schedule you with a doctor best suited for you.
