After presenting human resources and management seminars in cities across the United States for more than 12 years, Lynne Haggerman is bringing her message home to Springfield and offering them to the business public.
"You can just about name any major city in the country, and I've trained someone from there," Haggerman said.
Her seminars originally were presented around the country via Haggerman & Associates, a company that provides retained search, outplacement and human resource consulting services. Haggerman is president and owner of the company.
Earlier this year, though, Haggerman created the Pinnacle Training & Development division to accommodate the growing popularity of the seminars that are her own copyrighted work.
No stranger to the local business scene, Haggerman has done seminars in Springfield but never on her own, and never to the business community at large.
Previously, Haggerman's seminars were presented locally via Southwest Missouri State University's Management Develop-ment Institute or through in-house training for client companies.
"We've done our own around the country, but this is the first time we've done our own (seminars) publicly in Springfield," she said.
After experiencing success in other markets, Haggerman thought, "I need to bring this home."
"I travel a lot, but Springfield is home, and although I've touched a lot of companies here, there's a lot more people I can help" by opening the seminars to the public, she added.
The Springfield series, which will begin Sept. 19, comprises Haggerman's eight most popular seminars with the topics of hiring, recruiting, legal issues, supervision, creating training programs, employee discipline, conflict management and performance appraisals. The fee for the seminars is $179 each; there is a discount available for three or more. This first local public series also represents the first time Haggerman has offered certifications in human resources and management via her seminars to the Springfield business community, she said.
Haggerman, whose columns are published often in the Springfield Business Journal, now has between 20 and 30 copyrighted seminars she's written, and she estimates that she presents them hundreds of times each year. She now conducts all of her seminars personally, and the topics are focused on management and human resources issues. In the future, though, she plans to change that.
"We've been doing these all over the country, so it's beginning to be a bit much. We do have growth plans to be hiring additional instructors," she said. Those plans include adding new topics to the list of seminars, she added.
As a consultant, Haggerman said, she works hard to stay on top of the latest changes in her field, and she has first-hand knowledge about the information she provides.
"I live this. I work this stuff day in and day out. This is my field, and I practice what I preach every day, so they get very practical, hands-on techniques that they can use at the office tomorrow," she said.
