Hachette looks like the winner as war with Amazon ends

The political satirist's feud with Amazon over its feud with his publisher, Hachette, will likely end since the online retail giant and the smaller book publisher apparently have worked through their distribution differences. Late last week, Hachette's chief executive announced a multiyear agreement with Amazon, ending months of often very public and contentious contract negotiations.
 
According to Bloomberg Businessweek, Hachette is the winner in this publishing war. Amazon reportedly sought to lower prices for e-books and keep a larger cut of royalties from sales. The agreement, which begins next year, allows Hachette to control prices for e-books and keep all e-book royalties for its authors.
