H Design Group LLC

Working with the design development staff of Silver Dollar City and various consultants, H Design Group LLC is the lead architect for the renovation and building components of PowderKeg, a new themed ride that will open in the spring. SDC Maintenance and Construction is serving as the general contractor. Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins is the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer, and Barr Engineering is the structural engineer. S & S Power Inc. is the roller coaster engineer. The project will transform Buzz Saw Falls to accommodate a new launch coaster through the addition of two new buildings and renovation of two existing structures. Unlike a traditional roller coaster, which uses a lift hill and gravity to create acceleration down the first hill, a launch coaster uses a hydraulic piston to attain speed of about 55 miles per hour in just a few seconds, right at the start. There is no lift hill needed. In addition to providing architectural services, H Design Group’s animation team provided visual study models that were used in the creation of the teaser/trailer on SDC’s Web site at www.silverdollarcity.com.
