Gucci sues Alibaba over 'counterfeit goods'

China's leading online marketplace, Alibaba, is being sued by the French owner of Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Puma and other fashion brands.

BBC News reports Paris-based Kering has accused the company of allowing U.S. shoppers to buy counterfeit goods in bulk from Alibaba's various websites.

The action follows a failed attempt to resolve the matter outside the courts.
