At about 8:49 a.m. yesterday, an adult white male entered the bank and displayed a black powdered, long-barreled handgun, according to an FBI news release. The man escaped with an undisclosed amount of money and was seen fleeing in a mid-1990s white Chevrolet Sierra extended-cab pickup truck.
No one was reported injured.
FBI officials say the robbery is possibly connected to a June 27 robbery at the same bank. The subject at that incident drove a 1995-1997 Dodge Ram extended-cab pickup truck and also displayed a long-barreled handgun.
The man is described as 6 feet tall and weighing between 180 pounds and 220 pounds, with a heavy build. According to the FBI, he is in his late 20s to early 30s and has curly dark brown hair with a mustache and a possible goatee.
The suspect was seen wearing a red baseball hat, white nylon pulled over his face, a long-sleeved green or brown jacket, dark cotton gloves, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. He was carrying a small, green camouflage cooler with a white zipper, white lining and green strap.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Springfield Police Department at (417) 864-1810.
