Group hoping to bring MLS to STL reports progress

Five months after the St. Louis Rams’ approved exit for Los Angeles, a group seeking to replace the loss with a Major League Soccer team is still on the hunt for an owner.
 
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the group – MLS2STL – has had talks with a “strong, viable candidate”.
 
Expansion fees are estimated to be $100 million, plus the cost of stadium construction if a potential team chooses not to use the The Dome at America’s Center.
 
In April, MLS announced St. Louis and Sacramento, Calif., were preferred markets to expand the league by 2020. Other challengers include Detroit, San Antonio and San Diego.
