Gov. Eric Greitens this week released his budget plan for fiscal 2019.
Under the proposed budget, public colleges and universities would see their funding cut by a combined $70 million.
Budget Chairman Scott Fitzpatrick, R-Shell Knob, hopes to find a solution that doesn't harm higher education funding.
“If we can have some ‘aha’ moments in the budget and figure out if we can save money in certain places, I think there would be a lot of people in the legislature who would prefer to not see higher education cuts,” Fitzpatrick said.
