Greitens fined by state ethics commission over violation

Posted online
The Missouri Ethics Commission is fining Gov. Eric Greitens for failing to report his gubernatorial campaign received a donor list from a charity he founded.

Austin Chambers, Greitens’ campaign, said the violation amounts to a "simple campaign finance matter — not a major ethics matter."

Greitens filed an amended April 2015 campaign finance report, which values the donor list at a $600 in-kind contribution from Daniel Laub, his campaign manager.

Federal law dictates such lists may not be given to a campaign.

The state's ethics commission imposed a $1,000 fine. However, much of it will be waived if Greitens pays $100 and commits no other violations in the next two years.
