Greenwood switches up leadership

Greenwood Laboratory School this month switched up its top leadership.

Ron Snodgrass started July 1 as interim director of the Missouri State University-affiliated private K-12 school, according to a news release. He succeeds 16-year leader Janice Duncan. The reason for Duncan’s exit was not provided, and a spokesperson could not be reached immediately for comment by deadline.

“As the director of Greenwood, I look forward to continuing our tradition of excellence inside and outside the classroom," Snodgrass said in the release.

Snodgrass became assistant director of Greenwood in 2015, when he retired from Springfield Public Schools after 29 years as an administrator. He previously worked at Jarrett Middle School, Hillcrest High School, Pleasant View Elementary School and Central High School. He's also a referee in the Big 10 football conference and has been officiating the sport for more than three decades.

With Snodgrass' move to the top role, Jeni Hopkins was named interim assistant director, according to the release. She returned to Greenwood in 2016 as secondary counselor after previously working as a counselor and coach at the school 1992-2000. She worked at Hillcrest High School in the interim period.

“I am thrilled to be at Greenwood and work with the caliber of students and staff that walk these halls. It is a great place to be, and I am excited to embrace this new role," Hopkins said in the release.
