Wage growth in Greene County was near the bottom of the list of the largest U.S. counties in the fourth quarter, according to the latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Greene County's average weekly wages were up 2.9% to $1,126 in the last three months of 2024, according to a news release. That percentage increase ranks the county No. 305 in wage growth among the 369 largest U.S. counties measured by the BLS for the report.
The following are Missouri's largest counties, in order of fourth-quarter percent increase and wage growth rank nationally:
• Boone, $1,169, up 7.3%, No. 19
• St. Louis City (which operates as its own county), $1,522, up 3.5%, No. 245
• St. Louis, $1,519, up 3.4%, No. 256 (tie)
• Jackson, $1,460, up 3.4%, No. 256 (tie)
• St. Charles, $1,160, up 3.4%, No. 256 (tie)
• Greene, $1,126, up 2.9%, No. 305
• Clay, $1,254, up 1%, No. 352
Among the largest U.S. counties, 357 had year-over-year increases in average weekly wages during the fourth quarter, according to the release.
