Greene County’s personal income ranks 19th in Missouri

Greene County’s per capita average personal income rose 4.4 percent to $38,947, ranking it in the top 20 statewide.

That’s up from $37,311 in 2014 and $36,112 in 2013, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Greene County ranked 19th for personal income among Missouri’s 114 counties. It also ranked 12th in the state in terms of percentage growth compared with 2014.

On a national scale, average personal income rose last year in 2,552 counties, fell in 548 and was flat in 13. On average, personal income increased 4.7 percent in metro areas and 2.7 percent outside of metro areas, according to the release.

U.S. growth ranged from -30.3 percent in Sully County, South Dakota, to 35 percent in Loving County, Texas, according to the BEA.
