Greene County’s real gross domestic product has continued to grow, according to data issued yesterday by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis.
Greene County’s most recent GDP figure totaled $15 billion in 2018. That compares with $14.7 billion in 2017, $14.5 billion in 2016 and $14.3 billion in 2015, according to a news release. GDP is the value of goods and services produced within a county.
The local GDP was up 1.9% in 2018, ranking Greene County No. 61 among Missouri counties in terms of percentage growth.
Missouri’s real GDP rose 2.4% to $284.9 billion in 2018, and the national figure was up 2.9% to $18.6 trillion, according to the release.
During 2018, real GDP was up in 2,375 counties, down in 717 and unchanged in 21, according to the BEA.
The Republic School District is on track to open its Intermediate School for fifth- and sixth-grade students for the 2025-26 academic year.
