Greene County wages slip

Greene County’s average weekly wage dipped by 1.1 percent in the fourth quarter, according to the latest data released this week by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The county’s figure was $807, ranking it 127th by fourth-quarter percentage change among the nation’s 344 largest counties, according to a news release.

Greene’s average weekly wage was the lowest among the seven largest counties measured by the BLS. The average fourth-quarter weekly wages by county were:
    •    St. Louis, $1,131;
    •    St. Louis City, $1,124;
    •    Jackson, $1,070;
    •    Clay, $921;
    •    St. Charles, $839;
    •    Boone, $841; and
    •    Greene, $807.

Comparatively, Missouri’s average weekly wage dropped 1.7 percent to $918 and the U.S. average fell 1.5 percent to $1,067.
