Greene County wages rise in 3Q

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics today reported Greene County wages rose 1.8 percent in the third quarter.

For the three months ended Sept. 30, workers in the county brought in an average weekly wage of $725. The percentage change in wages from third-quarter 2013 ranked No. 257 among the 339 largest U.S. counties, according to a news release.

At the end of September, there were 8,200 establishments and 159,600 workers in Greene County. Employment rose 2.3 percent from the prior year, according to the BLS.

The U.S. average weekly wage rose 2.9 percent to $949 in the third quarter, according to the release.
