Greene County wages rise faster than most in Q2

Greene County's wage growth in the second quarter was among the best in the country, according to new data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The county's average weekly wages rose 6.3% to $1,039 during the three-month period compared with second-quarter 2022, according to a news release. By percentage growth, Greene ranks No. 14 among the 360 largest U.S. counties.

Here are Missouri's largest counties, in order of second-quarter percent increase and wage growth rank nationally:
• Greene, $1,039, up 6.3%, No. 14.
• St. Charles, $1,077, up 4.9%, No. 46.
• St. Louis, $1,368, up 4%, No. 90.
• Clay, $1,166, up 3.6%, No. 112.
• St. Louis City (which operates as its own county), $1,371, up 2.3%, No. 221.
• Jackson, $1,278, up 1.8%, No. 259.
• Boone, $1,027, up 0.6%, No. 318.

Among the 360 largest counties nationwide, 332 had year-over-year increases in average weekly wages, according to the release.
