Greene County wages rise 4% in 3Q

Greene County wages improved 3.9 percent in the third quarter, according to data released this week by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

For the three-month period ended Sept. 30, wage earners in the county brought in an average $753 per week, below the national average of $974 during the quarter, according to a news release.

Greene County ranked 47th among the 342 largest U.S. counties measured by the BLS in terms of year-to-year average wage growth.

As of Sept. 30, Greene County employment totaled 162,000, which was up 1.1 percent from a year earlier, according to the release.

Third-quarter employment grew in 312 of the 342 largest counties from September 2014 to September 2015.
