Greene County's wages rose 7.2% during the first quarter compared with a year earlier, according to a newly released report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
During the first quarter, Greene County residents brought home average weekly wages of $978, according to the release.
By percentage increase in wages, Greene County ranked No. 160 out of the 355 largest U.S. counties in the first quarter, the BLS reports.
Here are Missouri's largest counties, in order of first-quarter percent increase and wage growth rank nationally:
• Clay County, $1,072, up 10.1%, No. 38;
• St. Charles County, $1,099, up 7.9%, No. 119;
• St. Louis County, $1,400, up 7.5%, No. 138;
• Greene County, $978, up 7.2%, No. 160;
• St. Louis City (which operates as its own county): $1,455, up 5.6%, No. 238;
• Jackson County, $1,244, up 2.7%, No. 322; and
• Boone County, $1,019, up 1.9%, No. 340.
Of the 355 largest U.S. counties, 348 had year-over-year increases in average weekly wages, according to the release. Nationwide, average weekly wages rose 6.7% to $1,374.
