Greene County wages improve 3% in 2Q

Greene County wages grew by 3.2 percent in the second quarter, according to recently released data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

For the three-month period, residents earned an average $739 a week, according to a news release.

Greene ranked 96th in terms of year-to-year wage growth among the 342 largest U.S. counties measured by the BLS. The average U.S. weekly wage improved 3 percent to $968 in the second quarter.

In Greene County, employment was 161,900 as of June 30, a 1.7 percent increase. The region had 8,400 workplaces at that time, according to the release.

Employment was up in 319 of the 342 counties year to year.
