DeWitt & Associates is the general contractor for the Greene County Public Safety Center, slated for completion in March. The structure will house the Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management and 911 call center, said Larry Woods, assistant director of the Greene County Office of Emergency Management. The $19.7 million project is funded by a combination of federal and community grants and 911 sales tax revenues. The three-story building comprises 55,000 square feet and is designed to withstand an F5 tornado. Pellham-Phillips Architects & Engineers Inc. and Architects Design Group (Winter Park, Fla.) are the architects for the project. The engineers are Olsson Associates Inc., civil; Mettemeyer Engineering LLC, structural; and Pellham-Phillips Architects & Engineers Inc., mechanical, electrical and plumbing. DeWitt Project Manager Rob Rigdon said steelwork began in mid-June, and the first of two phases of precast concrete placement is beginning this month.
