Greene County per capita income ranks 17th statewide

Greene County per capita personal income averaged $34,691 in 2009, according to data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Greene County's per capita personal income ranked 17th out of the 115 counties in the state and was 96 percent of the state average, $36,181, and 88 percent of the national average, $39,635.

The per capita figure for 2009 marked a 1 percent decrease for Greene County from the previous year, according to BLS.

From 1999 to 2009, the average annual growth rate for Greene County's per capita personal income was 3.2 percent, compared to the state's annual growth rate of 3.3 percent and the nation's growth rate of 3.4 percent.

Greene County's total personal income for 2009 ranked fifth in the state at $9.4 billion, accounting for 4.3 percent of the state total. Comparatively, Greene County's total personal income was $6.1 billion in 1999, when it also ranked fifth in the state.

Total personal income comprises net earnings by place of residence, dividends, interest and rent, and personal personal current transfer receipts by the residents of the county.[[In-content Ad]]
