Greene County issues $400K to small businesses through ARPA funds

Posted online

The Greene County Commission today approved nearly $400,000 in funding to small businesses through the American Rescue Plan Act.

The funding for 29 organizations represents the second allocation for small businesses from the $57 million Greene County has available through the federal stimulus plan, according to a news release.

The top recipient in this round is downtown restaurant Civil Kitchen, which was selected for $26,750.

Additional small businesses picked to receive more than $20,000 are Solera Energy LLC, at $25,500; and Sunbelt Environmental, at $22,500. [Editor's note: The full list of recipients is attached with the images above.]

“The commission believes that our small businesses are the foundation of our community’s economy,” Presiding Commissioner Bob Dixon said in the release. “They employ our citizens and pay taxes which fund vital services. It made sense to make small-business relief a cornerstone of our recovery efforts.”

The commission has set aside $20.4 million for collaboration projects, $12 million for nonprofits, $10.2 million for countywide projects and $8 million for small businesses, with the remainder being held in reserves, according to past reporting.
