The Missouri Department of Economic Development approved Enhanced Enterprise Zone designation for southeast Springfield and a portion of Greene County, DED announced Thursday.
Springfield City Council passed a bill Jan. 11 to request state approval for a 63.4-square-mile EEZ in southeast Springfield. Council also approved requests for two other zones at that meeting: a 21-square-mile zone in north Springfield and a 6-square-mile area in the west part of the city. The state has yet to act on those proposals.
Also Thursday, DED announced $64,295 in EEZ tax credits for Rogersville-based Mid-Am Metal Forming. The manufacturer of curved-metal items for construction and aviation is planning a $1.6 million facility expansion and will receive the credits during a five-year period, creating 10 new jobs.
The Enhanced Enterprise Zone program started in 2004 and offers tax credits to businesses in specific geographic areas that meet certain criteria, including the potential to create sustainable jobs in target industries.[[In-content Ad]]
