Greene County court meets Mo. Supreme Court standards

Posted online
The 31st Judicial Circuit in Greene County in fiscal 2015 met timing benchmarks for processing cases put in place by the Missouri Supreme Court.

The Greene County court system beat expectations for domestic relations cases by four months and associate civil cases by six months for the year ended June 30, 2015, according to the Missouri Office of State Courts Administrator.

The state standard for domestic relations cases is to have 95 percent disposed within 14 months. The 31st Judicial Circuit disposed of 91 percent of those types of cases within 10 months, according to a news release.

For associate civil cases, the Missouri Supreme Court established a standard of 95 percent disposed within 12 months. Greene County disposed of 90 percent of cases within six months.

Tom Mountjoy, presiding judge of the 31st Judicial Circuit, said Greene County was able to meet these benchmarks with the help of other circuits due to a local judge shortage.

“We are hopeful the legislature will continue to provide us additional judges so we might improve our timeliness in all categories of cases,” he said in the release.
