Greene County Commission hires first county administrator

Posted online
Timothy Smith was hired as Greene County’s first county administrator March 10.

Smith had served as the county’s administrator for resource management since 2000.

Greene County Commission created the county administrator position to provide administrative oversight of daily operations, according to a news release. Smith will report directly to the county commission.

“As Greene County continues to grow and become more metropolitan, administration of the county becomes more complex,” said Greene County Presiding Commissioner Dave Coonrod in the release. “This growth also demands that the members of the county commission become increasingly involved in collaborative efforts with federal, state and municipal governments, area agencies and community groups. We’ve hired a county administrator to help provide cohesion to these efforts, as well as manage the county’s internal operations, so we commissioners can give our full attention to community collaboration, policy development and maintaining the county’s long-term sustainability.”

Smith’s annual salary will be $108,430, and county officials are searching for a new administrator for resource management, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
