Greene County Clerk Shane Schoeller is reminding eligible residents of Greene County that today is the voter registration deadline for the Nov. 4 special election, according to a news release sent out this week.
According to a sample ballot posted to the county clerk’s website, the special election is set to focus on a tax question for Springfield voters. They will decide if the city of Springfield will be allowed to impose an additional 3% lodging tax in order to help fund travel and tourism efforts including the construction of a regional convention and event center.
Eligible voters have until 5 p.m. today to register to vote on Nov. 4, and there are three ways to register.
Mail-in postcard registrations will also be accepted if postmarked by Wednesday, Oct. 8.
More voter registration information is available on the website of the Greene County Clerk’s Office.
According to the clerk’s office news release this week, a person applying to register with an election authority or a deputy registration official shall identify himself or herself by presenting a copy of a birth certificate, a Native American tribal document, other proof of United States citizenship, a valid Missouri driver’s license, or other form of personal identification at the time of registration.
In the news release, Schoeller urged anyone who has moved within the county or changed names to contact the clerk’s office as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary delays and ensure a better voting experience on the day of the election.
Fortified Elder Law LLC moved; Weston Kissee, a 17-year employee with St. Louis-based financial services firm Edward Jones, relocated; and Monroe Coffee Co. changed ownership.
