Greene County 1Q average wages rise 7.3%

Greene County employees earned an average weekly wage of $707 during the first quarter that ended March 31, according to a report released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The average represents a year-to-year increase of 7.3 percent, ranking the county No. 59 among the 329 largest counties in the U.S. based on percentage growth in average weekly wages.

The average weekly wage in the U.S. was $984 during the first quarter, a year-to-year increase of 5.4 percent, according to a news release.

Greene was the only local Missouri county named on the list of the largest U.S. counties. Greene County had the lowest average weekly wage among other Missouri counties on the list, falling behind:
  • the city of St. Louis, with an average weekly wage of $1,155;
  • St. Louis County, $1,023;
  • Jackson County, $960;
  • Clay County, $884;
  • St. Charles County, $784; and
  • Boone County, $724.
