Great Southern Travel acquires St. Louis agency

Posted online
Great Southern Travel, a division of Springfield-based Great Southern Bank, has entered the St. Louis market for the first time with its March 16 acquisition of The Travel Co.

The St. Louis-based agency has two offices in the area – in Creve Coeur and St. Peters.

The Travel Co. was founded in 1979 by owners Hank and Carol Alexander, who will stay on with the company. Carol Alexander will be office manager and lead the full-service agency’s 18-member staff, and Hank Alexander will remain on the staff indefinitely as a consultant.

“We have long looked at entering the St. Louis market, and this acquisition with The Travel Co. team is an ideal fit,” said Great Southern Travel Executive Kris Conley in a news release. “This team of agents has developed excellent client relationships through the years, and we look forward to building on the solid business foundation that they have created.”

Great Southern officials would not disclose an acquisition price.[[In-content Ad]]
