Great Southern to open Republic Road branch

Posted online
A new Great Southern Bank branch will open for business Oct. 1, serving customers at 600 W. Republic Road.

In July, the publicly held bank (NASDAQ: GSBC) announced its plans for the new branch in the Parkcrest Shopping Center, on property that was purchased by Great Southern for an undisclosed amount and formerly housed a Bank Midwest location.

The Parkcrest location will replace a Great Southern branch at 3961 S. Campbell Ave., which will close after regular business hours Sept. 29, according to a news release.

With 5,900 square feet, the Parkcrest location is more than double the size of the Campbell Avenue branch. The larger branch will have a full-service lobby, safe-deposit boxes, a teller line, drive-thru lanes and a drive-up ATM, the release said.

“Our previous location was one of our busiest in the city, and we hope our customers will find our new and larger location more convenient and accessible,” Great Southern President and CEO Joe Turner said in the release.

Debra Yeager, banking center manager, will lead a team of eight associates at the Parkcrest branch, which will be open Monday through Saturday. Grand opening festivities in conjunction with the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce are planned for Oct. 19.

Great Southern shares were trading at $31.02 as of 11:03 a.m., compared to a 52-week range of  $15.65 to $31.81.[[In-content Ad]]
