Great Southern Bancorp, the holding company for Great Southern Bank, recently was ranked as the 33rd most efficient U.S. bank holding company among the largest 500 banks, according to a listing in the Sept. 5 edition of American Banker.
According to an announcement from Great Southern, results were tabulated from first-quarter 2002 efficiency ratios, a measure of how much it costs a company to generate each dollar of revenue. Great Southern was one of four Missouri institutions ranked in the listing, which included only the top 150 of the 500 banks in the United States. The other three Missouri banks on the listing were St. Louis-based.
"We are pleased to be among the top 10 percent of the most efficient bank holding companies. This represents the dedication of our associates as we work hard in serving the needs of our customers and maximizing our shareholders' investment," said Great Southern President and CEO Joe Turner.
