Great Southern Bancorp Inc. (Nasdaq: GSBC) has named banking veteran Rob Fulp as market president of its Springfield region.

Fulp is taking on the market president role in addition to his regional managing director job, according to a news release. With a local banking career spanning four decades, Fulp was hired out of retirement last year by Great Southern Bank after most recently serving as president and CEO of Springfield First Community Bank, now merged with Guaranty Bank.

Fulp's promotion is effective Dec. 5.

“Since Rob left retirement to join the Great Southern team in 2023, we’ve benefited from his expertise and leadership," Great Southern President and CEO Joe Turner said in the release. "His deep knowledge of Springfield and his connections to area civic and charitable organizations addressing critical community needs make him a natural fit for this role."

The market president role is new to the Springfield area, said Jennifer Russell, communications manager for Great Southern Bank. The role was initially created in 2022 for the company's St. Louis market, Russell said.

As market president, Fulp will work closely with Great Southern's lines of business including credit, Treasury services and community relations. As regional managing director, his focus is on overseeing commercial lending relationships.

“It’s a true privilege to work alongside Joe Turner and the amazing team members at the headquarters of Great Southern Bank here in Springfield," Fulp said in the release. "As market president, I’m thrilled to continue working side by side with these high-level professionals while bringing the bank’s many resources to bear to address community needs. I couldn’t be more excited.”
