Great Southern buys former UMB Bank site in Overland Park, Kan.

Springfield-based Great Southern Bank has purchased a 20,000-square-foot building in Overland Park to house its seventh Kansas City-area banking center.

According to the Kansas City Business Journal, Great Southern paid $3.5 million for the building, which was previously occupied by UMB Bank.

The journal reports Great Southern intends to renovate the first floor and open a full-service retail banking center by mid-2015. The bank also plans to move its Kansas City commercial lending group from Corporate Woods in Overland Park.
