Jack Stack's open-book management style is making a 21st century resurgence this summer with the publishing of "The Great Game of Business 20th Anniversary Edition."
The book, first published in 1992, details Stack's democratic style of running companies advocating for employers to be open about and discuss financial decisions and situations with employees. Since, the book has sold 10,000 to 15,000 copies a year, has been published in 11 languages and is cited in 130 other business books, according to
GreatGame.com.
The updated version - to be published by Random House in July - includes 30 percent more material, including new content from Stack about how the open-book management community has evolved. With the resurface, Great Game is also releasing an audiobook recorded by Stack and an online resource website designed by Springfield-based 40Digits, which also designed the book's new cover.
Stack is founder, president and CEO of SRC Holdings Corp., an employee-owned company with annual revenues of roughly $450 million. The Great Game of Business Inc. is a division of SRC. As with the original book, the 20th anniversary edition is co-authored by Bo Burlingham, editor-at-large for Inc. magazine.
