The grace period for a 2023 texting-while-driving law in Missouri is ending this month.
Starting Jan. 1, police will start writing tickets for violations. They've been encouraged until now to inform drivers of the new law rather than issue tickets, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
A first offense carries a fine of $150, and that can rise to $500 for repeat convictions within a two-year period.
