Gov. Jay Nixon named Andy Hosmer as associate judge of the 31st Judicial Circuit Court over two competitors.
An attorney with the Springfield law firm of Hosmer King & Royce LLC, Hosmer steps into a role left vacant by last month’s retirement of Judge Mark Fitzsimmons of Division 23, according to a news release.
“Andy Hosmer’s extensive experience in practicing law in Greene County, and his dedication to public service, will serve him and the citizens of Missouri well in his new role as associate circuit judge,” Nixon said in the release. “I am pleased to appoint him to the bench, where he will continue his advocacy for justice on behalf of the citizens of Greene County.”
Last month, the 31st Circuit Judicial Commission also submitted the applications of finalists Becky Borthwick, municipal court judge for the city of Springfield, and Randall Eggert, an assistant U.S. attorney, to Nixon for review. They were narrowed down from a pool of 16.
Prior to working at Hosmer King & Royce LLC, Hosmer served as assistant attorney general of Missouri, as assistant prosecuting attorney for the Greene County prosecutor’s office and as assistant public defender in Springfield, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
