The teams are made up of local officials and representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, State Emergency Management Agency and U.S. Small Business Administration. They also will gather information from local governments on costs related to emergency actions.
Other counties included in the assessment are Barry, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, Maries, McDonald, Phelps, Pulaski and Taney.
The Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management reports that 207 Springfield, Republic and Strafford homes were moderately damaged in the severe weather this week; 32 Springfield, Republic and Strafford homes sustained major damage; and 14 Republic and Strafford homes were destroyed. In Springfield, 11 businesses and one school facility were damaged, and in Republic, one business and one school were damaged.
The county emergency management office expects to have a cost estimate of storm damage by the end of the week.
