Government expands airbag investigation

The U.S. federal government is expanding an investigation into malfunctioning airbags.

Federal officials added 12.3 million additional vehicles to the list of cars that could have bad airbags. The list now includes certain models of cars by Honda, Hyundai, Kia and others.

The airbags in question may fail to inflate in the event of a crash.
