President Donald Trump is facing a rare rebuke from the Republican Party for suggesting the election be postponed.
Trump on Thursday tweeted that the election may need to be moved. He alleged increased mail-in voting could lead to voter fraud. Trump cannot move the date without congressional approval.
GOP officials from New Hampshire to Mississippi to Iowa were quick to say the election would be held on Nov. 3, as scheduled.
“All I can say is, it doesn’t matter what one individual in this country says," said Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, who's president pro tempore of the Senate. "We still are a country based on the rule of law, and we want to follow the law.”
