Googling ‘move to Canada’ spiked on Super Tuesday

Donald Trump won big on Super Tuesday, taking seven of 11 states up for grabs. Despite the record primary turnout, not everyone seems to be as happy about the former reality TV star’s wins.

NBC News reports searches inquiring about how to make an exodus to America's friendly neighbor to the north – Canada –  were up 350 percent as the polls closed, according to a tweet from Google's Simon Rogers.

By the next afternoon, the Googling of the phase “move to Canada” shot up a record 1,450 percent. The Canadian government’s official immigration website received so much traffic, it was forced to post a warning about slowdowns.

While not reaching anywhere near Trump's record spike, the last time Google numbers regarding Canada shot up were in November 2004 when President George W. Bush won.
