Posted online
St. Louis-based Varsity Tutors is the poster child for Google’s economic impact report on Missouri.

Chuck Cohn, founder of the 7-year-old in-home tutoring and test preparation company, was selected as Google’s case study for maximizing e-commerce on limited resources, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

In the report, Cohn credits Google products YouTube, AdWords, Analytics and Google+ for assisting the company’s growth to tutoring in 30 subjects across 25 U.S. markets. Doubling its business each year on average, Varsity Tutors now employs 70 in St. Louis and works with 3,600 private tutors nationwide.

According to Google, some 21,000 Missouri businesses benefited from using its advertising tools, resulting in $1.2 billion in economic activity. The report said $651,000 of free advertising was provided to nonprofits in the Show-Me State through the Google Ad Grants program.

Nationwide, Google claims to have an economic impact of $111 billion through its products.
