Google is threatening to remove its search engine from Australia.
The warning came as a law is proposed in Australia that would require Google to pay news publishers for their content.
Google officials say the country is trying to make it pay to show links and snippets to news stories in Google Search. The rule change “would set an untenable precedent for our business and the digital economy," Google officials said, noting it’s “not compatible with how search engines work."
