In a lawsuit filed Wednesday, Google is seeking to dismantle a foreign cybercriminal group dubbed by some researchers as the "Smishing Triad."
The group is known for operating a massive SMS phishing, or "smishing," operation.
Google is bringing claims under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, the Lanham Act and the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.
The group, which the lawsuit states is largely based in China, has impersonated Google and other organizations.
