Google is paying $1.16 billion over 60 years to lease NASA's Moffett Federal Airfield in California.
The company plans to renovate the historic Hangar One, originally used to house airships, for research, development and assembly in the emerging areas of space exploration, aviation and rover/robotics, according to ITworld.
NASA has estimated that the lease will save it about $6.3 million each year in maintenance and operation costs.
