Google passes Exxon to become 2nd-most valuable U.S. firm

Look out big oil, big tech is on the rise. Tech giants now account for the top two most valuable companies in America.

Google Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) surpassed Exxon Mobile Corp. (NYSE: XOM) to become the second-most valuable company in the states, second only to fellow tech giant Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL).

Bloomberg reports Google has a market capitalization of $393.5 billion, while oil company Exxon is valued at $392.6 billion. Apple has a market value of $465.5 billion. Software company Microsoft Corp. is No. 4 with $302.1 billion.
