The Wall Street Journal reports Google is gathering millions of Americans' personal health data in an initiative code-named "Project Nightingale."
Google is partnering with Ascension, the nation’s second-largest health system, to develop artificial intelligence-based services for medical providers. Google officials say the company's work is being done for free with the idea of testing a platform that can be sold to other health care providers.
According to The Wall Street Journal, impacted patients have not been informed of the data collection.
