Google Fiber lags in interest

A national analyst says Google Inc.’s move into the high-speed Internet and TV-service arena has resulted in an incredibly small number of customers, according to the Kansas City Star.

Google Fiber, launched in 2012, has secured 27,000 video subscribers in the Kansas City metro and less than 3,000 in other cities, according to data compiled by the industry analyst, who said the service isn’t a threat to cable and satellite providers.

The analyst compared Google Fiber to Ebola: something to be taken seriously, but gets more attention than it deserves.
