GM's most popular pickup is this year's most recalled vehicle

Posted online
The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra have the dubious distinction of being the year's most frequently recalled vehicles.

GM's most popular pickups have been recalled six times so far in 2014, according to CNNMoney. And since they hit showrooms 12 months ago, the two trucks have been recalled nine times.

The Silverado is GM's best-selling vehicle in the U.S., and the higher end Sierra is the best-selling GMC model. CNNMoney said the mass-market Silverado won Truck of the Year honors from the nation's leading auto critics at the Detroit auto show in January.

GM has said the recalls are sign of its commitment to safety as the automaker defends its recalls of some 2.6 million cars for an ignition switch flaw 10 years after it first knew of the problem.
