GM's earnings more than double

Bolstered by strong truck and SUV demand in its core market, General Motors more than doubled its second-quarter earnings.

Net income rose 157 percent to $2.9 billion, up from $1.1 billion a year earlier.

Revenue moved up 11 percent to $42.4 billion from $38.2 billion in the second quarter of 2015.
