General Motors said Wednesday it will increase electric and autonomous vehicles spending to $35 billion through 2025, a 30% increase from plans announced late last year. The automaker also said its earning guidance is being raised for the first half of the year.
The spending uptick is intended for expansion of GM’s EV rollout and production acceleration of its battery and fuel cell technology.
GM seeks to catch up to EV leader Tesla and the automaker plans to sell more than one million EVs annually by 2025.
